Students & Thinkers

Think it all the way through.

Some things are too tangled to hold in your head and too connected for a document. WhifCal gives you somewhere to lay a problem out, break it into parts, and let the numbers add themselves up while you keep thinking.

What's inside

Four ways to put a thought on paper.

Each one suits a different shape of thinking. You can start in the loosest and move your work into a stricter one as it firms up.

Plan

The one that adds up

A nested document where child rows roll up into parent rows, and you can set a value at any level yourself. Move whole sections around and the maths follows.

Build a budget with real parts underneath it.

Idea Map

The loose one

Nodes take on the properties of the node above them, and you connect things by switching connections on rather than drawing lines. The map arranges itself as it grows.

Pull a big question apart and see how the pieces relate.

Linear Flow

The one that runs in order

A visual flow for anything with a sequence — steps, stages, a journey from one end to the other.

Map a process and find where it stalls.
TemplatesTurn any document into a reusable template, or start from the gallery.
Work with someoneReal-time co-editing, with permissions down to individual nodes.
CSV uploadBring a table you already have and build the document from it.
How it gets used

For the thinking that doesn't fit in a doc.

Coursework and research

Lay out an argument or a model as a structure instead of prose, so you can see whether the parts actually hold each other up before you write a word.

A decision of your own

A move, a course, a job, a purchase. Put the real costs in one place, nest the parts that belong together, and watch the total change as you change your mind.

Something you're starting

A side project or a small venture. Map what depends on what while it is still small enough to rearrange freely.

What this plan doesn't include, and why we say so up front

Decision Maps and the Scenario Playground are not part of Students & Thinkers. They are built for modelling a whole organisation — thousands of connected nodes, traced back to their sources, turned one way and then another. That work belongs to people doing it for a living, and it is priced for them.

If that is the kind of question you have, the Professionals plan is where it lives. Everything you build here comes with you.

Decision Maps and Scenarios are large-canvas work. Looking at a ten-thousand-node structure two nodes at a time is not useful to anyone, so they stay on full-size screens where they can actually be worked with. Lite is not a trimmed-down WhifCal; it is the part of WhifCal that makes sense in your hand.

If you start on Lite and later move to a web plan, whatever is left of your current Lite period comes across as credit against the purchase. You never pay twice for the same month.
